What if you knew it was the last time you were going to hear the USA National Anthem?
This year the Veterans assembly was a little different for me. This year I was able to bring my father Jack Stout to be honored. It was meaningful to us both. My dad has never been honored before as a Veteran and was overwhelmed by the way students, staff, and the community honored him. The music touched us both. From taps to the Navy song, my dad felt like the hero he is. My daddy really is MY hero. Thank you for all do as the staff and students to make this happen…. It literally meant the WORLD to me.
On a personal note knowing that that was the last time I would hear the National Anthem played and God Bless America for a year it put tears in my eyes. This really is my “Home Sweet Home”. We tend to take advantage of this simple act of patriotism. “That Our Flag was Still There….Land of the Free and Home of the Brave” is a hope and gift that my freedoms are truly given by heroes. Oh, how I will miss saying the pledge of allegiance to MY home flag each day. What a true privilege this is. Each time a hear a foreign anthem played I will envision My Flag. My Anthem. My Country. My Home…. The USA!
